Audio Sermon: Financial Freedom
November 28th, 2007 by David Wallace posted in SermonsFinancial freedom is 80% behavior and 20% head knowledge. All that I have is given by God (1 Cor. 4:7). All that I need is promised by God (Phil. 4:19). All that I give is rewarded by God (Luke 6:38). All that I do is responsible to God (Rom. 14:12).
In this message, Ray Davis explores Genesis 47 which relates to the time when Joseph, now second in command of Egypt right under Pharaoh, brings his father Jacob, all his brothers, their wives and their children to live in Egypt. The life application of this message shows the difference in the world’s financial plan of debt for us compared to God’s financial plan of freedom.
The message covers the following points:
- Responsibility - We are mostly to blame for our financial woes.
- Contentment - Our self worth is not based on our net worth. We also fail to understand the difference between purchasing an item compared to purchasing an image.
- Work Ethic - Trustworthiness does matter. We are also instructed to work hard and have a great attitude about it.
- Generosity - God provides us an example to be generous in that He is generous.
- Debt - How we can benefit from low to no debt as well as some “debt commandments.”
- True Wealth - The good life in Egypt can never compare to the blessings of the Promised Land. Additionally, the Promise Land is an O.T. picture of the N.T. principle of the fullness of life in Jesus.
