Audio Sermon: Healing Past Hurts
December 21st, 2007 by David Wallace posted in SermonsAs Ray Davis wraps up his teaching series in the Book of Genesis (been in this series all year), he looks at the final chapter (50) which demonstrates to us that although the past can no longer hurt us, our feelings about the past can. Unless our past hurts are healed by God’s Grace they will hinder our present relationships with both Him and others.
In this message, Ray examines how Joseph is healed from the past hurts of his brothers now that dad (Jacob) has passed away. Joseph clearly chooses the freedom of forgiveness over the bondage of bitterness.
We see how we should…
- Stop Sitting in God’s Place - Playing God (putting ourself in God’s place) is the root of many of our problems.
- Start Seeing from God’s Perspective - Accept the fact that life can be brutally painful and confusing, believe that God’s power working in you and for you is greater than anything you will ever face and commit to judging the beginning by the end rather than the end by the beginning.
- Start Showing God’s Passion - Joseph is loving his enemies and we can too if we will practice o the 1st two points above and regularly submerge ourselves in God’s love.
