Audio Sermon: Amazing Grace
December 9th, 2007 by Ty Wallace posted in SermonsGenesis Chapter 48 allows us to see the last scene in Jacob’s life and out of all the events in his life, it’s the only one mentioned in the Hall of Faith (Hebrews 11). “By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff,” – Hebrews 11:21. Why would this be the preeminent expression of his faith? Because it draws together the basic theme of Jacob’s life: The Amazing Grace of God!
In this message, Ray Davis uses Genesis 48 to explore the wonderful and amazing grace of God. What defines God’s grace – unmerited favor. Favor means that God is for us and not against us. In other words, He is on our side and desires for us good and not evil. Unmerited means that His favor cannot be earned, and even if it could be, we don’t have the means with which to earn it.
Ray goes on to show us that we can and should grow in God’s grace. This essentially involves three stages of understanding.
1. I know that I need God’s grace.
2. I have experienced God’s grace.
3. I see all of life through God’s grace.
