Audio Sermon: Surrender
January 14th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in SermonsHow does faith in Jesus Christ change a person? What is the process by which change happens? These are just a few of the questions Ray Davis examines in this message entitled “Surrender.” Looking at Romans 6-8, often referred to as the “Doctrine of Sanctification,” we will see that this sanctification is a progressive work of God and man that makes us more free from sin and more like Christ in our actual lives.
In this message, Ray examines the following points:
- Knowing the Potential of Our Identity in Christ - Namely that the Father accepts us, delights and dotes over us as having all greatness, glory and beauty of His Son. He sees us as He sees His Son. (Col. 3:1-3). Furthermore, the power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. (Eph. 1:19-21). And finally, the changes that God is going to do in our
lives is way beyond our wildest dreams. We will never be able to anticipate the magnitude of the changes.
- Live Out Our Identity in Christ Daily - Understand that we have everything we need, change doesn’t happen automatically, we must apply I must apply the life of Christ strategically and diligently moment by moment.
- Surrender Our Lives Fully to Christ - Everyone lives for something. If it’s not God it will be something else. Whatever it is it will control your life. Three Question Test: 1.) What do you inordinately worry about? 2.)What do you inordinately get angry about? and 3.) What do you inordinately get sad about?
The Eternal Benefit:
If we give our heart to anything more than God, we will eventually experience death. But if the ultimate passion, purpose, priority, pursuit of our life is Christ, we will experience life.
