@John J. Righteous Hypocrite - When you say "these terrorists we Americans all fear so greatly are killing in the name of God — your God, their God" I must point out that all gods are not the same. For example the Islam worship of Allah is not even close to the Christian worship of Jesus Christ.

Your statement seems to blame 'God' for the current terrorist activity and nothing could be further from the truth. When will humans stop blaming God for their problems and flaws?

Secondly, you say a simple act of prayer cannot 'stop a man from taking his own life to end yours.' I strongly disagree. If a prayer is offered up to God and nothing is impossible with God, then anything can happen.

Considering that this is "anti-terrorism legislation," the separation of church and state that we are constitutionally required to observe is being breached by this clause's very existence. No one has ever killed in the name of atheism. Atheists cherish life, as we believe it is the only one we have. Christians believe that they have a better afterlife, which causes them to not value this life near as much as the one they are hoping for where they will "walk next to Jesus." People die regularly to "serve God," which is the force behind terrorism being a recurrent piece of our society. Do not blame atheists, who are among the most peaceful people on this planet, for any shortcomings Christians have created on their own. We would rather fight terrorism through logic and reason rather than praying to an invisible sky daddy that has given us no real proof that it exists in the first place. Put your money where the odds are, my friend. Don't live life in fear for no reason.

You, sir, are failing to understand one very important thing here: These terrorists we Americans all fear so greatly are killing in the name of God -- your God, their God; Yahweh, Allah, the monotheistic deity. The Big Guy is on their side as well. The fact that you, who I assume to be a grown man, and other Christians retort to this 'protect us, almighty God' nonsense is dangerous and irresponsible. Do you not realize that the simple act of prayer will not stop a man from taking his own life to end yours, in the name of God? When Christians learn to stop their faith from polarizing the world around them, maybe, just maybe we humans can evolve as a species in peace, love and understanding. It's your choice, peace or annihilation.
