92 Year Old Woman Turns Robbery Into Opportunity To Witness

Monday, May 12th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

A 92-year-old woman from Dyersburg, Tennessee recently turned an attempted robbery into an opportunity to minister to the would-be robber. Pauline Jacobi reads her Bible everyday and her strong faith keeps her going in life. It very well may have saved her from harm as well after she almost became the victim of a parking lot robbery. Check out the video report as posted on YouTube. WMC-TV has the entire story.

Dealing With The Reality Of An Immortal Soul In A Mortal World

Thursday, May 1st, 2008 by Ryan Cook posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

Our church recently experienced the loss of a dear sister, Cyndee Luque, to cancer. At her funeral ceremony, there were over 500 people in attendance to pay respects to their respective friend, spouse, mother, daughter, co-worker, cousin, sister, and ministry partner. What a beautiful picture of a person who lived their life with conviction and devotion to Christ and how extensive her reach was with the love of God. The troubling part ...

Church Ordered To Remove Controversial Anti-Liquor Advertisement

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

Waynesville town officials told a local church on Monday to take down an anti-liquor display featuring a car demolished in a deadly wreck because it broke local sign rules. The N.C. Highway Patrol even got involved, sending a trooper by twice to tell church leaders that the display in front of their building would be towed if it wasn’t moved from the public right of way. The church’s pastor said the real reason wasn’t the law ...

He Is Risen! Happy Resurrection Day (Easter)

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

He is risen! Matthew 28:1-7: After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that ...

Fighting To Make A Difference

"Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier." - II Timothy 2:3-4 The Word of God is full of promises and blessings. Its pages contain the plan of salvation and allow us to see God’s grace, His mercy, and His everlasting loving-kindness. It is a ...

Give It Up!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 by Ryan Cook posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

Prayer. It's huge. In fact, it should be typed up as PRAYER!!! The NIV Bible has 155 references just to the particular variation of the word. Jesus gives both a model and an example of prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 puts in simply: "Pray without ceasing..."; an entire verse is dedicated to the idea. With so many examples, instructions and exhortations on the matter, why is it that prayer is ...

When the Church Strays From the Great Commission

Saturday, January 26th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

Two stories in the news of late have really left a bad taste in my mouth. The first involves a radical Baptist church in Kansas who protested the actor, Heath Ledger's memorial service with signs claiming he had died and is in Hell because he played a gay character in “Brokeback Mountain.” The Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka is also known for picketing the funerals of soldiers who perished in Iraq. The second story involves ...

Living a God Purpose Life

Saturday, January 19th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | 4 Comments »

Matthew 28:18-20, also referred to as "The Great Commission," is typically used in reference to “making disciples” or “reaching the lost.” While these are good uses for this portion of scripture, it can also relate to the fact that every Christian has a God-given purpose for their life and that every Christian is called to contribute or participate in the building of the body of Christ. Matthew 28:18-20 states: And Jesus came up and spoke ...

Christian Faith That Moves Mountains

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

God has called His people to have a faith that can move the mountains in their lives. Those mountains may involve sickness, finances, raising children or even having a happy and successful marriage. Jesus talked about faith that moves mountains in Matthew 21:18-21. Now in the morning , when He (Jesus) was returning to the city , He became hungry. Seeing a lone fig tree by the road , He came to it and found ...

How The Unchurched Views the Church

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008 by David Wallace posted in Christian Living | No Comments »

It has been said of Christians that we are at times our worst enemy, at least when it comes to promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A new study from Lifeway Research confirms that fact. The study reveals that while most unchurched people are willing to hear what people have to say about Christianity, the majority of them see the church as a place full of hypocrites. Why is this so? It is most likely ...
