Sifting the Evidence

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Evangelism | Comments Off

Typically, one of the most common things that I've heard skeptics say to argue against the existence of God is, "show me the evidence that God exists." Whether through discussions with them, reading their blogs, listening to their podcasts or reading their books, one thing seems to be quite common. That is, they only want the evidence that hasn't already been found. Not long ago, I picked up a book called "God: The Failed Hypothesis." I ...

Apologetics Today

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Christian Living, Evangelism | Comments Off

To be completely fair, this is probably more for me than for anyone else. At times, it seems as though I have a tendancy to assume that the same mistakes that I'm making are the ones that many Christians out there are making. With that, my hope is that someone who actually is making the same mistakes as me might read this and that it would somehow bless them.

Common Misunderstanding of the Trinity

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Evangelism | Comments Off

Not long ago, as I was listening to one of the many podcasts that I subscribe to, I heard Dr. William Lane Craig talking about a recent debate he had had with a Muslim apologist. One of the things he talked about was very interesting to me. He talked briefly about a common misunderstanding among Muslims of the Christian doctrine regarding the Trinity. Very few Christians are not somewhat familiar with the concept of the Trinity. ...

Consigned to Damnation

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Evangelism | Comments Off

I was listening to a podcast the other day of a discussion on the "Destiny of the Unevangelized" from Reclaiming the Mind Ministries' "Theology Unplugged" series. This particular podcast was a cross-over with their "Conversing with Scholars" program and they were talking with Rob Bowman, the new executive director of the Institute for Religious Research. One particular thing really stood out to me during their discussion. At one point, Bowman was describing some common types of ...

Transitions and Steadfastness – Part IV

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Christian Living, Evangelism | 2 Comments »

As a final entry in our list of scenarios for transitioning (or not) between Christianity and atheism, we'll take a look at the idea of atheists becoming Christians. This type of thing always brings joy to the church community for many reasons. One, perhaps somewhat "worldly," reason is that it helps us to validate what we already believe to be true. Somehow, it seldom works the other way around, though. There are, as is usually the ...

Transitions and Steadfastness – Part III

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Christian Living, Evangelism | Comments Off

Today, we get further into looking at the four different scenarios relating to transitioning or remaining Christian or atheist. Once again, these same four scenarios could easily be argued by other faiths, but Christianity is being treated here. Now, we're going to get into some of the more touchy areas that might, perhaps, have a bit more controversy or, at least, be a little more complicated and hopefully thought provoking. First, in order to make sure we're ...

Transitions and Steadfastness – Part II

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Evangelism | Comments Off

Last week, I started a post in which we were going to look at four different scenarios between Christian and atheist. As I am a Christian and this is more in my field of knowledge, other major world religions are not being addressed in these posts, though they certainly can be said to have the same four scenarios. The four scenarios are these: Christians who remain Christians Atheists who remain atheists Christians who become atheists Atheists who become Christians

Transistions and Steadfastness

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 by Dan Carrington posted in Christian Living, Evangelism | Comments Off

It seems almost humorous sometimes. Other times, it's mind-boggling. And still other times, one just isn't quite sure what to think. For centuries, millenia even, the debate has raged on. Does God exist or not? In some ways, there are times it reminds me of political campaigns. We saw in the last campaign, prominent Democrats pledging their support to the Republican candidate and vice versa. I see the same thing with Theists vs. Atheists. Some atheists ...

Christian Groups Combat Atheist Bus Campaign With Their Own

Saturday, December 6th, 2008 by Ty Wallace posted in Evangelism | 6 Comments »

When the American Humanist Association began running a $40,000 "anti-God" holiday ad campaign on Washington D.C. Metro buses, Christians in the area decided that something had to be done about it. JoEllen Murphey, a mother of four from McLean, Va., was one of those who was outraged over the atheist bus campaign. She is part of two Christian groups who have raised $14,000 to run a "pro-God" campaign on the same buses.

Website Allows You To Send Email After You’ve Been Raptured

Sunday, June 8th, 2008 by Ty Wallace posted in Evangelism | Comments Off

We hear very little these days about a future "Rapture" in which Christians will be caught up in the air, swept away from death and united with the Lord Jesus Christ in an event that I believe precedes the Great Tribulation spoken of in the Book of Revelation. That does not mean it still won't happen. In fact the Bible warns us that the Lord will return in a day when we do not expect ...
