The Lighter Side of…

Thursday, March 12th, 2009 by posted in Funny Stuff | Comments Off

In an effort to try to provide some levity to my normal, more "serious" posts, I just thought I'd give a shout out to Prodigal Jon and his "Stuff Christians Like" blog. This particular post had me laughing out loud. After having e-mailed this to most of my friends, I still thought I'd post it here since I don't have e-mail addresses for everyone who reads this blog. (No need to send me your e-mail ...

What Worship Is “Not”

Thursday, August 28th, 2008 by posted in Funny Stuff | 1 Comment »

Christian worship is not about us... it is about God. It always has been. However, we live in an age where self worship abounds. And although it might not be quite as extreme as depicted in the video below, we're pretty close. Enjoy!

Cute: Two Year Old Girl Sings Lord’s Prayer

Thursday, May 29th, 2008 by posted in Funny Stuff | Comments Off

My wife came across this cute video of a Korean toddler saying (singing) the Lord's Prayer. You know, "Our Father, which art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name..." I remember reciting this every church service I attended as a kid, but at only 2 years and 8 months, being able to not only remember the Lord's Prayer but sing it as Zoei Toh does is pretty amazing. With no further ado, here is Zoei. Enjoy!

Bad Commercials

Thursday, May 1st, 2008 by posted in Funny Stuff | Comments Off

We've all seen them on TV or during the previews at the movies. Visually, there is a major disconnect between the visual aids and the message or the marketing department must have just experienced major cutbacks, because what was once supposed to be funny is now downright offensive. This is TV. So how bad does a commercial have to be to be a "bad commercial" on the radio? Yesterday I found myself listening ...

Kids Say The Funniest Things

A friend of mine sent me a handful of statements made by children with regards to the Bible. I hope you enjoy! Lot's Wife The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted, "My Mommy looked back once while she was driving and she turned into a telephone pole!" The Good Samaritan A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan. ...

Christians Now Have No Excuse To Miss Church

Monday, February 11th, 2008 by posted in Funny Stuff | Comments Off

We have all done it - made excuses as to why we might not attend any particular church service - whether we have actually acted on them or not. My pastor recently presented a humorous look at what a church might do in order to provide no excuse to miss church. They'd hold a special service called "No Excuse Sunday" which might look something like this. (Name of Church) Announces "No Excuse Sunday" Event To make it ...

The Commercialism of Christmas

Thursday, November 29th, 2007 by posted in Funny Stuff | 2 Comments »

I came across a revised "Twas The Month Before Christmas" poem that revels how commercialized Christmas has become in our day and age. Although I consider myself a bit of a humbug when it comes to our modern Christmas holidays, I do enjoy a few things about the Christmas season such as getting together with family and friends, the fact that some people step into a church for the first time and hear the gospel ...
