Once again, another court case is on the books regarding separation of church and state. This time due to high-school officials taking down a copy of the Ten Commandments from a student’s locker. Fortunately, this was reversed and the student is now allowed to post the Commandments on his locker again.

Recently, I read a news article about the now famous (or infamous) abortion doctor, Kermit Gosnell who was recently charged with eight counts of murder for abortions he performed. The story is not for the faint of heart, so if you’re going to read the entire article, please be prepared.

According to our founding fathers, there are certain rights we have that are attributed to the fact that we are human. These rights, according to the Declaration of Independence, are given to us by our Creator. The list in the Declaration is not exhaustive, as indicated by the preceding phrase “that among these are.”

Since I’ve apparently been stuck on the “separation of church and state” thing these past couple weeks, I figured why stop now? Besides, it’s given me a lot to think about as far as what constitutes a violation of the First Amendment and what does not. Perhaps it’s just me, but it seems as though there is a lot of gray area when it comes to this issue.

Once again, the idea of the separation of church and stately is grossly misunderstood, mis-applied and mis-used. In a news article on OneNewsNow.com, Bill Bumpas writes about a problem at a Chicago school talent show. The problem? Two girls wanted to perform a song with Christian lyrics.

The United States of America is approaching it’s 250th year of existence. I hadn’t really thought of it that way until just now. But, really, it’s only 16 years away. That’s not really all that far, when you think about it. It’ll be here in the blink of an eye.

It seems like every presidential election, Supreme Court Justice nomination, congressional election and senatorial election, this is one of the major topics of discussion. In the ever-present effort to keep religion out of politics (I actually don’t think this is even possible, but that’s a subject for another time) many Christians are not doing their faith much justice. I’d like to say that I am often surprised at how often people downplay the importance of their faith in their lives, but I can’t.

The first set of taxpayer-funded abortions under the new healthcare law President Barack Obama signed has been approved by the Obama administration. Even though Obama and his allies told the public that taxpayers would not be paying for abortions under the law, unsurprisingly they will be.

In a victory for the fight to maintain the definition of traditional marriage between one man and one woman, Hawaii’s Governor, Linda Lingle, vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have legalized same-sex civil unions.
